WekaWatch Kawakawa Bay Inc
We are a not-for-profit group who are working to protect the small population of North Island weka that are living at Kawakawa Bay on the southern shores of the Hauraki Gulf. We have about 13 km of trap lines with more than 100 DOC 200 and 250 traps that are checked regularly by volunteers. We conduct regular surveys of the weka population in the core area every autumn. Our web site has the latest results.
We are available to talk to schools, service groups, and other interested organisations about our group and its work.
