History of The Blue Duck Project Trust

We have been trapping predators on the Tongariro River since 2008. Initially this involved volunteers checking 165 DOC200 traps protecting 8km of river habitat. We now have 240 DOC200 traps and another Goodnature120 A24 traps. In both of the last two years (2011/12 & 2012/13) we have fledged 14 blue ducks and a further 4 captive reared birds were released in April 2013. We now have approximately 9 to 11 pairs protected.
