History of Wairarapa Moana Community restoration
Our group was established in 2016. We have planted about 1000 plants over 2 planting days so far, with another day planned for winter 2017, where we hope to plant another 600 or so plants. We have two sites, one in the floodplain of Donalds Creek, on the northern edge of Featherston (the Harrison Street Wetland), and one at Lake Domain on the northern shore of Wairarapa Moana. Our purpose is enhance the health of Wairarapa Moana, to connect the townspeople to its catchment, to enhance environmental awareness, to build community, and to create worthwhile experiences and opportunities for our youth.
