Friends of Central Park
We have a working bee from 10.00-12.00 on the last Sunday of every month except December.
We usually meet at The Jetty which is 250m upstream from the park entrance at bottom of Brooklyn Road. Just come along - all very welcome.
The group was initially started to remove and control weeds in Central Park but has now evolved into a group of people interested in a range of activities:
- To make the park safer and more attractive for people and to increase its use
- To retain and plant native plants and attract native birds
- Amenity planting and beautification
- Stream restoration
- Pest control
Our current activities include clearing and maintaining the stream environment and other key areas, monitoring trap runs in the park and planning for the 2017 Art Walk. Removing tradescantia is one of our main tasks! We are also planning future activities such as improving the entrances to the park.
We have group members with skills in landscaping and knowledge of native plants and eco systems. All of us are friendly and enjoy good conversations while working in the park – and we always have a delicious morning tea at our Sunday morning working bees!!
